Flight is an unusual and coveted discipline: with it, a vampire can escape the bonds of gravity and soar into the air completely unsupported. Some clans with Flight grow actual wings, such as the Gargoyles, while others such as the ancient and lordly En simply levitate like the semi-divine powers they consider themselves. In spite of the fact that it is one of the oldest of vampiric powers, it is very rare in the modern day, and most vampires who have not seen it in action simply assume that it is a myth.

Basic Powers

Glide

You may not truly fly, but you may glide like a hang-glider and thus slowly sink down to the ground, control your fall, or direct your trajectory. You can travel up to fifteen miles per hour and cannot carry anything very large, since you need your body parts to steer.

Lift Off

WhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.png

You can now fly if you get a running start, hurling yourself into the sky to fly steadily as long as no major air currents or obstacles stop you. You can travel up to thirty miles per hour and are now skilled enough to carry up to 20 pounds with you as long as you can carry it.

Intermediate Powers

Sky Leap

You may fly straight up from a standing start as long as you are not hampered or carrying anything; you can also carry up to 50 pounds with you as long as you get a running start first. You can travel up to forty-five miles per hour.

Wind Speed

You can now lift directly off the ground with no running start while carrying up to a hundred pounds of additional weight. You can travel up to sixty miles per hour.

Advanced Powers

Heaven Walk

WhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.png

With this power, you may hover completely still while airborne, and maneuver easily back and forth as if swimming regardless of air currents. Especially powerful winds, such as those generated by storms or Thaumaturgy, may still be strong enough to affect you.

Elder Powers

Soar

WhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.png

You may create a wake of carefully controlled air behind you as you fly, enabling any other fliers to follow with ease. While you are continuously leading other flyers, they are more stable and need to use much less focus and energy to keep up with you.

Gust

WhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.png

You may concentrate all the force of your flight downward, creating a stunning downdraft that flattens unwary groundbound foes. All but the strongest of beings are likely to be knocked prone if they are in the radius of the gust, and structures and objects will be affected as if struck by tornado-force winds.

Cyclone

You may use the sheer power of your flight to create a stable whirlwind of air around yourself, constantly throwing aside or knocking flat anything that gets close to you. As long as you remain in the air, only the strongest of enemies has any hope of making physical contact with you.

Breath of the World

WhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.png

You are capable of incredible feats of acrobatics and maneuvering while in the air. You can travel at well over a hundred miles per hour, and as long as you are capable of lifting something on the ground (including through the use of powers such as Potence), you can carry it with you effortlessly.

Stratosphere

WhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.pngWhitePointSmall.png

You can now fly quickly enough to break the sound barrier (though you do not have to create a sonic boom unless you want to for effect), and fly high enough to cause mortals to pass out from oxygen deprivation. Vampires with this level of Flight seem impossible to escape, appearing in places they should not be able to reach and traveling huge distances in very short periods of time, often leaving their pursuers helpless behind them.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

While Flight is an awesome power and grants a distinct advantage over many foes, it is also more dangerous to use in the modern era than it once was. Vampires in their normal human forms are large enough that they are difficult to mistake for birds or bats, and light pollution and surveillance mean that taking to the sky anywhere near human habitations risks a breach of the Masquerade. Vampires who fly high enough may even need to contend with being misidentified as UFOs by hobbyists or the military, with predictably uncomfortable results.
