The subtle powers of Nepenthe allow a vampire to manipulate chemicals and drugs, allowing them to induce euphoric overload or debilitating side effects with a simple touch. All Nepenthe powers require the user to physically touch their intended victim.

Basic Powers

Fragrance of the Hal Gil

You sense any significant drugs or chemicals in your area, running the entire range from knowing what designer drugs someone has in their purse to instinctively recognizing where the janitor's closet with the ammonia is. You know approximately how far they are from you and about what they are, although you may need to examine them up close to get more specific information.

Inflict the Empty Soul

You may instantly remove all the effects of any intoxicant, drug, or chemical in a person's system, potentially sparing them from injury or taking a blissful high away from them at the worst possible moment. This power is most commonly used to clear one's own blood when a vampire is worried about being less than alert, but it is also popular for allowing endless consumption of drugs at parties that can and do last into the last seconds before dawn.

Intermediate Powers

Crave the Caress

You may cause someone to suddenly experience and overwhelmingly powerful craving for a specific drug of your choice. They are likely to go to great lengths to get it, possibly even putting themself in harm's way if they are already susceptible to addiction, and will be unable to shake the compulsion for the rest of the week, after which whether or not they continue to crave and use the drug is up to their individual personalities.

Kiss of the Hal Gil

You may instantly induce the effects of a drug of your choice on a single victim, who experiences a pure, powerful high that exemplifies the drug's effects. Effects vary depending on the drug chosen, but victims are often giving tranquilizers to make them easier to feed from, or enemies given blissful highs to stop them from continuing to argue.

Advanced Powers

Blessed Drowning

You may induce the effects of a severe overdose of a drug of your choice in a single victim. Those suffering from this power's effects feel all the worst side effects suddenly and overwhelmingly; most cannot function at all and are likely to collapse or violently lash out, and all are close to helpless to resist or fight back against anyone. Those who survive this power's effects until the sun rises will awaken feeling normal again the next night, but those with less than ironclad constitutions may die long before the sunrise can save them.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

The effects of Nepenthe simulate drug usage in some cases, but only by creating the effects of the drug; the victim of these powers does not actually have the drug in their system, and so cannot pass it on to others who feed from them or be caught via a blood test.

Keep in mind that drug addiction is not uniform across all people, and how one person responds to feelings of addiction or euphoria may be very different from the way another does. The powers of Nepenthe can only induce an effect, not control how someone reacts to it.
