The powers of Sunnikuse are ancient tools used by the Bohagande, who are usually their only wielders, to literally siphon off the good luck of others and use it for themselves. Those affected by these powers suffer from what appears to be a horrible run of bad luck, and it has often been used to protect territory, destroy a rival, or create just the right conditions for a shift in the balance of power.

Basic Powers

Jinx

By touching someone else, you may steal a tiny bit of their luck for yourself. The victim automatically fails at the next thing they attempt, whether it's as simple as making a sandwich or as difficult as launching a rocket, and the vampire who used the power likewise automatically succeeds at the next thing they attempt.

Misfortune

You may level a curse of misfortune upon someone else nearby, afflicting them with a host of petty problems and annoying obstacles. They have bad luck with most things they do until the end of the scene, and even when they manage to succeed at things do so just barely.

Intermediate Powers

Calamity

By bleeding on a personal object or body part belonging to someone else, you may curse them with high-level terrible luck, giving them a despair-inducing near future of constant disasters. Most things they attempt to do simply fail, and their failures are much more likely to result in freak accidents, injuries, and chain reactions. This power works only as long as the vampire continues to hold the object or body part that they have bled on, and ends when they let it go.

Twist of Fate

You may control how lucky or unlucky everyone around you is, turning success into triumph and failure into catastrophe. The next action taken by a target of this power is intensified; if it was a success, it's an amazing success, and if it was a failure, it was a botch. Wielders of this power have been known to use it on themselves to make themselves unbeatable due to freak conditions, or to force enemies to crach and burn from the most ridiculous of coincidences.

Advanced Powers

Gift of the Crow

You may now hold onto the luck you steal from others for long periods of time instead of being forced to use it immediately when it is stolen. As long as other people are around, you slowly siphon off a bit of their luck all the time; you become luckier at everything you do, continuing to be so until you are knocked unconscious or fail at something so catastrophically that your fortunes are reversed, while they become a little less so, more prone to mistakes and misfortunes. If there is no one around to pull good luck from, this power cannot conjure it out of thin air.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

Victims of Sunnikuse always feel a sense of impending doom hanging over them, even when their misfortune has not yet struck, which may or may not affect their behavior, so you may not always be able to count on someone backing out in fear when you expect them to. In addition, because this discipline is so bound up in cultural ideas of what luck is, it can sometimes be affected by powerful symbols of good or bad luck; for example, a sufferer who finds a four-leaf clover might genuinely not be afflicted by as much bad luck as the power would otherwise have inflicted on them (provided that they are superstitious enough for it to mean something to them).

It is usually impossible for other vampires to tell who has used Sunnikuse on them, or even to realize that it's the culprit for their current malaise, but some especially powerful elders may recognize the signs and be able to pinpoint where they are coming from.
