Ravenna is very rarely seen in Washington, DC, and even more seldom recognized by anyone except those few who work directly for her. Dusky and elegant, easy to miss in a crowd when she wants to be, she is as sleek and seductive as she is soft-spoken and prone to vanishing. Those few who have spoken to her - or even more rare, seen her dark, twinkling eyes - leave with an impression of more knowledge than she's willing to share and the feeling of being weighted, deliberately, and perhaps coming up wanting.

Biography

Mortal Life

Ravenna was born in the late eighteenth century in Haiti, the child of a white Haitian nobleman and one of his slaves. Although she was lucky - her father chose to have her raised in the house and to take care of both her and her mother, although of course neither of them were ever officially acknowledged - she couldn't help noticing the rampant injustice all around against people who looked like her. When the Haitian Revolution came, Ravenna's loyalties were torn... but in the end, she could not ignore the plight of the rebelling slaves, and in 1794 she abandoned her father's house to join the revolutionaries.

Embrace

Although there was more than enough reason for the Revolution from a mortal perspective, it was also being helped along by local Setite cabals, which sought to encourage the overthrow of the established order and enjoy the ensuing panic and chaos. One such Follower of Set noticed Ravenna, leading several strikes and coordinating revolutionary efforts, and was impressed by her dedication to toppling her oppressors and breaking with the social morals of the time.

After she successfully survived several months of these activities, the Setite kidnapped and Embraced her, informing her that there was a much greater world of dangers and powers in need of revolution around her. As the Revolution wound down and its conclusion became inevitable, he sent Ravenna out into the world on a new mission: to find any Setite Temples that were abusing their power for personal gain instead of the glory of Set, or who were unworthy of their mission, and to topple their leadership and replace it with those who operated according to the true faith.

Activities as High Priest

Ravenna then spent over a century acting as a double agent on her sire's orders; she visited temples all over North and South America as well as the Caribbean, insinuating herself into each area in order to discover whether or not the local Setites were effective at working toward the clan's goals and destroying or "disappearing" the temple's leadership if they were deemed unsuitable. During this time, she became High Priest of several temples during the interim period before new leadership could be installed.

Several decades ago, Ravenna began to see prophetic visions that she interpreted as images of Set's return to earth. Believing that she had been chosen to foresee the god's return and that she must increase her efforts ever further in order to make the world ready for him, she relocated to Washington, DC, where the Setites were not officially welcome but which offered an unparalleled hub for controlling and influencing Setite operations around the country. After establishing a truce with the local Nosferatu to keep her subterranean temple from being reported to the Prince, Ravenna began to work diligently on new blood intoxicants to stimulate the population, preparing to release them at the final moment of Set's arrival, and began testing all the local Kindred for worthiness to be present at this event.
