Phone Call: Hope to Ginevra is a scene from the DC Chronicle featuring Ginevra Bianchi and Hope Gutierrez, with a minor appearance by Maeve Glaistig. It depicts Hope calling Ginevra to inform her of Meve's whereabouts while also declaring that she and Maeve have become lovers.
Scene Summary
A drunken Hope calls Ginevra on Maeve's phone from the ground in an alley, where the two of them are sitting, and introduces herself as Maeve's best friend. Ginevra, who is at The Pit socializing with other ghouls, is startled to hear someone else on the other end of the line and begins to panic, worrying that something must have happened to Maeve for someone else to be calling on her behalf. Hope tries to reassure her, then realizes that she needs a plausible excuse and informs Ginevra that Maeve will not be coming home tonight because she and Hope are having sex.
Ginevra is shocked and disbelieving, but realizes that she has never asked Maeve her sexual orientation. She worries briefly, but decides that this is a good thing after all her attempts to encourage Maeve to socialize and try to forge new relationships, and after some spluttering asks Hope who her assistant is so that she can get in touch if necessary. Hope and Maeve, who are laughing hysterically, have difficulty answering, and Hope is confused about what Ginevra is asking, but eventually she directs Ginevra to her ghoul, Samantha Gunnarsson. Hope finally hangs up after a reminder that they are not to be disturbed, and she and Maeve lie on the ground laughing.

Hope is sitting on the ground in an alley with Maeve Glaistig sprawled across her lap. Ginevra is at The Pit and holds up a hand to quiet others at her table as she answers the phone.
GINEVRA: Hey, hon, I was wondering— |
HOPE: Heya, Ginny. This is Hope. Maeve's best friend. How ya doing? |
GINEVRA: Hope? Oh, hi, where's — is everything okay? Did something happen? Where are you? |
HOPE: Uh. Nope. Everything's great here. Just, ya know, calling to check in. See how you're doing. We're having the best time. Talking. And, like, laughing. So.... Yeah. Anyway. Maeve's not coming home right now. She's... Busy? Super busy. Uh... We're having sex. Yeah. Doing the do. And you know how that goes. Could be a while! So don't wait up, okay? |
GINEVRA: What. |
Ginevra splutters. Maeve starts laughing. Hope puts her hand over Maeve's face and tries to shush her as she laughs.
GINEVRA: What. Thank you for letting me know, and please let me know if anything comes up or she needs something. I'd be happy to come out. What was your assistant's name again, in case I need to call...? |
Hope covers the phone speaker and starts laughing.
HOPE: Ohmygod, Maeve. Shut up. She's... She's buying it. |
She puts the phone back to her ear.
HOPE: My — My do-what-now? |
GINEVRA: Your assistant, do you have an assistant? Who do I call if I need to find the two of you? I hate to keep interrupting, so if you would just let me know so I could hang up... |
HOPE: My... Oh! My Sam. Her name's Sam. But don't worry! We're doing great here. Doing sexy times. Which we should totally get back to. Um... Bye! |
She hangs up and falls back to the ground, laughing.
