The Living • The Touched • Servants |
Mortals are the most numerous and least powerful of all beings in the world. They are the living, unmagical and part of the natural world, and everything they achieve must be done through human virtues such as cooperation and determination. While some mortals can access a little bit of supernatural power, none of them are capable of doing so to even the lesser levels of supernatural beings.
The Living
The Living are those groups of mortals who, for the most part, are just trying to go about their lives without being harassed by the supernatural. Human beings, as well as natural animals and plants, are among the Living, as well as humans who have very minor psychic or ritual powers.

The Touched
The Touched, on the other hand, are mortals who have been meddled with or augmented in some way by the supernatural. While still essentially human, they have powers that other mortals do not, and often the touch of the supernatural can cause other mortals to become unable to distinguish between them and the truly extra-human.

Servants
While some supernatural beings can grant a little power to mortals if they wish, the resulting servants bear little resemblance to the Touched. Servants most often have little to no free will and are obsessively focused on their supernatural patrons to the exclusion of their own well-being, and many become unstable or destructive as a result.
