Game History
The history of the ongoing game is broken up into chronicles, distinct individual games spanning months of years of active play, during which the events of the story play out in various locations. Each chronicle's history revolves around its setting, usually a major city, and the lives and activities of the supernatural beings that inhabit that setting. While the majority of characters are vampires and thus their political and social events are given extra weight, it should never be assumed that other important supernatural events are not occurring beyond their limited scope.
There are two types of chronicles: live chronicles, those that saw live play, and background chronicles, those that were designed as backstory and flashback games to enhance and inform the events of the live chronicles. Live chronicles can be further split up into live-action roleplaying chronicles, in which characters were played live and face-to-face in communal improvisation, and play by post chronicles, in which characters were played asynchronously via writing in an online forum. Characters may appear in more than one chronicle, and events in one chronicle may affect or even occur simultaneously in another.
Games Chronologically
The order in which chronicles were played in real-life time is as follows:
- The Raleigh Chronicle (LARP)
- The Albuquerque Chronicle (background)
- The Greensboro Chronicle (LARP)
- The Chicago Chronicle (play-by-post)
- The New Haven Chronicle (background)
- The Milan Chronicle (background)
- The New York Chronicle (LARP)
- The DC Chronicle (play-by-post)
- The Paris Chronicle (background)
- The Stockholm Chronicle (background)
However, this does not reflect the actual timeline of events occurring in these games. A more accurate visualization of events taking place in each chronicle would look more like this:
