Jean Claude sends a letter to Ventrue Ian Kross, telling him that he is surprised that he hasn't heard from him and wants him to know that he is his friend. He taunts Ian by telling him about multiple disasters that afflicted him in Chicago, implying that he was behind each one of them.

Jean Claude sends a letter to Ventrue Ian Kross, telling him that he is excited to hear his name in court again since he had assumed that he died when Chicago fell to the Sabbat the way a good Prince should. He claims that it is lucky for everyone that he is alive and writes that he is glad to hear that Ian is talking about him, saying that the two of them are the only ones left to remember the recently-deceased Maeve Glaistig.

He goes on to tell Ian that he was right to assume that he would have stolen Maeve from him, but that her faith in Ian was too strong, and describes killing Maeve and seeing her finally realize that Ian was never coming. He then tells Ian that he is happy to share his memories of Maeve with him.
+
He goes on to call Ian lucky for having footage of himself and Maeve having sex, while he has only memories. He coyly describes some of his memories, claiming to have raped Maeve and then later killed her, and offers to share more details if Ian writes back to him. He invites Ian to visit him in Milan, saying that he cannot possibly do the subject justice in a letter.

Jean Claude's letter wonders why Ian never writes back to him since they are friends, and asks if Ian liked the gift he sent to him or if he should send another. He claims to be worried about maintaining their friendship.

A copy of the recording of Ian and Maeve is included.

|<div style="float:left; vertical-align:middle; padding:0px;"></div><p>JEAN CLAUDE: Msr. Kross,

I admit I am surprised that I have not heard from you. True, we were not so very close during our time in Chicago. There may have even been instances when we found ourselves at cross-purposes. But I am afraid you misunderstand me. I am truly your friend.
+
How wonderful it is to hear your name about court once more; I thought of course that you were dead, lost to us when Chicago was destroyed. Much like the captain of a ship, I had always assumed a prince should fall with his city. But lucky for us that you have risen for now a third time, is it? The fates do favor us all, to keep you safe where so many others were lost.

I have always been there for you, in spirit. When you were sent by his majesty to kill your dear friend, Chance Fields? When your rather phallic building was reduced to rubble and your assets seized? When you so skillfully persuaded Chason to relinquish Praxis? I was there.
+
No, my friend, it is very lovely to hear your name, and lovelier still that it is apparently me you speak of. Lovely and strange, like so much I adore. I would not think to hear my name from your lips and here we are. The two of us, together: what remains of before. We are all that is left to remember her now.

Honestly, Ian, I have been with you for so long and yet you barely took notice of me? Except, of course, when it came to our songbird. I must admit now that she is gone, you were right about me. I would have taken her from you if only I could. But her faith in you was unyielding.
+
Well… Aside from your gift, of course. Again, lady Luck has seen fit to favor you above so many others. While you have such wonderful souvenirs of your love, I only have my memories to fill the lonely nights without my songbird. But such memories, Msr. Kross.

Did you know that she waited for you? I told her time and again that you were not coming, that you were dead, as we all thought you were. But she refused to believe me. She said that you would come for her.
+
Would you like to know what she sounded like when I fucked her for the first time?

What love I witnessed. What devotion. What sorrow, in the end. Because it was only in the end, when she finally realized that she would die, that she knew you were not coming. I saw the hope drain from her eyes before I killed her.
+
Would you like to know what she sounded like when I killed her?

She had never looked more beautiful to me, than in that moment.
+
Much the same, actually. I am sorry to spoil the ending. It is the journey, not the destination, however. There were certainly memorable parts along the way. I will cherish them, always, these pieces of her that are mine and mine alone. I would share some with you, if you would like. You do seem to want to know so very much about me.

But I share it with you, freely. As I said, we are friends, are we not? And yet you do not write back. Did you not like my gift? Should I send another? I would hate to think that I am neglecting my end of this.
+
And there is so very much I could tell you. I feel as though a letter could not possibly be enough. Please, my friend, accept my warmest invitation to visit me in Milan. My father’s court welcomes you with open arms, as do I. I wish for nothing more than to kiss your cheek and tell you all you wish to ever know.
